KSS Did Not Have “Fires”.

(Nor did it have “Floods”).

Some KSS Adoptees have reported that KSS has told them that KSS had “fires” (one person has reported that KSS said they had a “flood”) and that KSS did not have their adoption files. These same Adoptees have later discovered that this was NOT true, and that KSS had their adoption files all along.

The only fire that really happened in relation to KSS was at one of its many Feeder Orphanages”, Star of the Sea Orphanage in Incheon in the 1970s. However, Star of the Sea Orphanage rebuilt in a new location, and is still open today. Even though Star of the Sea Orphanage had a fire in the 1970s, we believe that KSS in Seoul would still have the master adoption files from this orphanage.

KSS in Seoul has never had any fires that have affected KSS’ adoption files.

We believe that KSS sometimes tells people that KSS had a fire in instances where there is a problem with their adoption case, or when KSS simply does not want to deal with a large group of Adoptees all at one time.

We know that KSS has adoption files dating back to its earliest days at its Post Adoption Services building in Seoul. KSS also has its adoption files on microfiche, which are accessible by KSS social workers on their computers. KSS began to microfiche its files in the 1980s.
